Dr. Eric Edmonds joined Children’s Specialists of San Diego’s division of Orthopedics upon completion of his Pediatric Orthopedic and Scoliosis Fellowship in August 2008. His decision to pursue a career in medicine was inspired by the childhood experiences he shared with his brother who was born with muscular dystrophy and was treated by Dr. Scott Mubarak, Division Director of Orthopedics at CSSD.
“I chose pediatric orthopedics because kids can almost heal themselves. Most often they are otherwise healthy and with our help, they can get back into the game. We can set them up with the skills to enjoy a lifetime of physical activity.” said Dr. Edmonds.
Dr. Edmonds has been charged to help construct a sports medicine program at CSSD. The new sports medicine program will expand on the work already started at RCHSD by focusing on Dr. Edmonds’ interests of shoulder instability, knee ligament injuries, and articular cartilage injuries in the knee and ankle.
